We are looking for teachers with fluent English language to teach adults and children at Jian Hua School. We ask for a minimum commitment of one year.

Start date:
September or March. One week’s orientation will be given prior to the term start.

Teaching Schedule:
There are two semesters a year, approximately 18 weeks each, from September to January and from March to July, with a one-week break mid-semester. Presently the school runs as a part time evening and Saturday school. Adult classes are held Tuesday to Friday 6:30-8:30pm. Children’s classes are offered all day Saturday 9:00-11:20am and 1:30-3:50pm. The age range of the children is from six to 18 years old. Teaching hours are up to 15 hours per week. Depending on demand the school also offers one-month intensive English language classes during the day. More recently the school is negotiating contracts to teach classes outside the school to colleges, private schools and businesses.

E-zone:
We also hold open English conversation evenings on Wednesday and Friday, 6:30 to 8pm. This is an excellent way to help students improve their English language skills in an informal setting. It is also a great opportunity to get to know local people.

Salary:
Teachers at the school are provided with a monthly stipend and also a housing allowance. Lunch and dinner are provided on all teaching days (Tuesday – Saturday). Teachers are also given the option of taking Chinese language lessons at the school. Teachers need to pay for their own travel and insurance costs.
